The right solution depends on the protected volume, likely ignition points and the product's stated application.

A conventional extinguisher remains useful when a trained person can safely access an early-stage fire. It should be secured where occupants can reach it without opening a burning engine bay or climbing through a smoke-filled space. However, manual extinguishers rely on someone being present, recognising the danger, retrieving the unit and using it correctly under pressure.

Passive suppression adds another layer.
